The Old Fashioned Walnut Cake is the best Walnut Cake ever. The walnut sponge cake is really soft and the walnut filling is a walnut dream.
Walnut Cake – delicious and easy family recipe
Need 400 grams ground walnut. Put 4 tablespoons of ground walnut into the sponge cake, the rest in the walnut filling and on the top of the cake.
The walnut sponge cake
6 eggs 4 tablespoons (cake) flour 4 tablespoons ground walnut 6 tablespoons sugar 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Stir the flour, the baking powder and 4 tablespoons of ground walnut.
Separate the egg whites and yolks.
Beat egg whites until they become white and frothy. Add the sugar little by little and continue beating until sugar dissolves.
Next add the egg yolks and continue beating carfully.
After that, add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and ground walnut mix) and mix well with spatula.
Pour the walnut sponge cake batter into a 30 x 40 cm pan that has been greased with butter and floured.
Preheat oven to 180 °C and bake the cake for 30 minutes.
The cake is ready when a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Remove the cake from the oven and let cool.
The walnut filling
100 g softened butter 2 cup milk 3 tablespoons (cake) flour 2 + 4 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract little bit of rum (baking) flavor
In the little pan stir 3 tablespoons of flour and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Add the 2 cup of milk. Cook over medium heat stirring it continuously. After it starts to boil cook it by stirring for 2 minutes. Let it cool.
Beat the butter with 4 tablespoon sugar. Add the cold flour-milk pasta little by little and continue beating. Add the vanilla extract, the rum flavor. Mix it well. Add the rest of ground walnut exept 2 tablespoons of ground walnut.
Make the Walnut Cake
Cut the walnut sponge cake into three equal rectangles.
Spread over the first rectangle cake with the walnut filling and cover with the other cake layer. Repeat it.
Spread the top of the cake with walnut filling and dust with 2 tablespoon ground walnut.
